Despite seeming to have vanished into cyberspace, I am still here. But, oh, the heat! It's turned me into an unmoving lump. My ambitions have melted into the tarry roads. But before all that happened, I picked wildflowers. And transported them on a charming little bike, then arranged them. All on the cheap & borrowed, i.e. nothing was mine. Not even the bike (thanks, Mom). So here are my steps to an easy wildflower bouqet.
1) Find a field, someone else's if you're like me & don't own anything, let alone property. Just make sure it's somewhere in plain view so you can't be accused of trying to sneakily trespass. If I'm going to be arrested for trespassing, I'd prefer it to be blatantly so.
2) Borrow your mom's bike. And your sister's bike basket. And your mom's scissors. Bicycle to wildflower field as the sun is setting. Bask in the glow (remember, this is before the heat monsoon).
3) Pick flowers in a haphazard way, meandering all over the field. Take time to admire the sun's gilding rays on the furry-stemmed blooms, lay down in the field and look at the dusty blue sky through the golden petals, wave to cars that pass, hoping they aren't the field's owners & that if they are, you look so charming picking flowers that they will forgive you...(as a disclaimer, I'm pretty sure I know who owns this field, & I'm pretty sure they won't mind:)).
4) Bike home, basket laden with blossoms of black-eyed susans & daisies.
5)Borrow a vase (naturally) to put your bounty in. Smile smugly to yourself on a job well-borrowed.
